Breath of Life: Healing Music for Grief, Trauma and the Global Pandemic

Mental Health | 0 comments

Wow. I don’t even know where to start. Well, first off, please BREATHE. Take a few deep breaths and be incredibly grateful for that breath because it is what allows you to have this gift of life. What I’m about to say here might be hard to hear. Be with it, and give yourself the gift of listening and breathing to the Breath of Life video.

So much injustice is coming to Light, which is incredibly painful for many people of colour and empathic allies. The purpose of this pandemic is for Mother Earth to have some healing, and to let our broken society and ourselves fall apart. Chaos – falling apart – has to come first. “The Truth is coming out” is a colossal understatement. It’s messy, ugly and systemic and we each have a role to play. Right now for some, that role is to do nothing but allow the waves of grief. For others, it’s a time of action or self-reflection and for some it’s all of it and more.

The 2020s is trying really hard NOT to let us “go back to normal” so that we create something so much better, which we totally can.

I and many others have been talking about this and flowing right along with it for so many years now. We are knee-deep into the time when the foundation of “society” is not just crumbling but literally falling apart. I had a vision several years ago where I saw the energies of all of us who want to make a positive difference in the world coming up underneath it all to create something new. Ascension, in a nutshell. Mother Earth isn’t dying. She’s evolving. So are we, like it or not. You can expect a lot of spiritual awakenings and some of you will be getting spiritual downloads. That’s what’s starting to happen, and here we are, in this painful yet remarkable global transformation that really, we knew was coming. We just didn’t know when.

While we have this time, even if it’s complete chaos and falling apart, which does always come before spiritual awakenings, we need to lift ourselves and each other up, gather our spiritual energy and stand our ground NOW for the good of all life everywhere.

The Truth is leaking out from all the little rugs it’s been swept underneath. The dam of lies, corporate greed, political and police corruption and racism has completely burst and we are being flooded with it… but we are also being flooded with Love, Kindness and mass spiritual awakenings. We just need to hold steady and have compassion for ourselves and each other.

And we need to BREATHE. Trauma and grief can tighten us up and make us hold our breath or breathe shallowly, which in turn actually causes and intensifies anxiety. It’s a vicious circle and the first step out is to BREATHE. Can you tell I want you to remember to breathe?

As the mother of a murdered Black and Indigenous son, I’m the last to want to bring up those words “I can’t breathe” but it’s something I experience every single day and not just  metaphorically. It’s how grief and trauma keep hold of us. It’s also what this virus uses to attack us.

Here is the meditative music video for “Breath of Life,” a healing song for grief and this pandemic to help you remember to breathe fully. You will be guided with breathing prompts and meditative teachings to help you relieve anxiety, grief, stress, and feel whatever you feel.

When I do deep breathing even for just a few minutes, I notice my heart rate goes down (I have a Fitbit that measures it), I feel calmer, more relaxed, and I tend to have more moments of conscious deep breathing throughout the day. I don’t get triggered as often and I just feel better. Try it out. The song is only a few minutes long and you’ll be guided through it with beautiful nature visuals – video footage and photos – that I took in BC, Ontario and California long before the global pandemic. Let all that beautiful nature serve as a way for you to feel a sense of spiritual connection and expansion in these times of chaos and spiritual awakening.

The song is on my Picking Up the Pieces album, along with many more healing songs – hand drumming and Indigenous roots reggae hip hop fusion.

You came to the planet to live through this time and you get to choose. Will you share your voice and your gifts for the betterment of our world? Will you stop holding back who you really are and allow that beautiful being to have its powerful expression?

We are in a time of deep deep spiritual expansion, spiritual expression and learning how to live again in a new way.

We are being amplified. So how about we tune in with our bodies, our minds, hearts, souls, our full being… to the frequency of Bimaadiziwin – the art of living in a good way. And don’t forget to what again? BREATHE.

Love & Blessings,

Brenda MacIntyre, Medicine Song Woman
