Musical Jedi Mind Tricks & Your Global Pandemic Playlist

Mental Health | 0 comments

I’ve got a global pandemic playlist just for you – a video replay of one of my first livestreamed living room concerts after 2020 hit! As Spirit would have it, just a few months before this global pandemic, I created and released a music album designed for it. I created this music during a very traumatic time, to help me get through what I was going through, and also to help people through grief, trauma, chronic pain and difficult sudden changes.

Singing songs designed for times of stress, anxiety, fear or pain can help you get to the other side of the pain. Conscious meaningful messages in healing music can rewire your brain if you listen to them, but even more if you sing or move along with them. It can also bring up emotions that are begging to come up so they can be released. When you dance and sing to the music, you can get a great release of emotional and physical pain.

Our brains love patterns, so when you put music, healing energy and well-crafted transformational lyrics together, you get quite the magical blend. This is exactly why I did this livestreamed living room concert, presented by Music Together Ontario and sponsored by Shopify, Arts & Crafts and Ontario Creates. Here’s the replay – a global pandemic playlist – just for you:

SET LIST

  1. Breath of Life
  2. Grieve
  3. Nothing but Love
  4. Picking Up the Pieces
  5. Living Past the Limits

Music with healing energy and transformational lyrics is like affirmations amplified. You’re giving the ego-mind a job to do (singing along, coordinating with the rhythm, learning and recognizing patterns). That way the ego-mind no longer can get in the way of the rest of your brain, nervous system and body receiving new instructions and creating new habits.

Whenever you’re facing unprecedented sudden changes in your life, your brain is going to be looking for and clinging to patterns it recognizes. Well, really it’s always doing that. It just wants to keep you safe. To bring down stress and anxiety levels, your ego-mind thinks it has to get you back into familiar territory, which then keeps you in the same patterns and habits that no longer serve you. The problem with that in a global pandemic is that there is hardly any familiar territory left for us, which means your brain is going to hold you back when what we’re being called to do is EXPAND.

So how do you feed your brain and body with new patterns, and allow yourself to expand, when you’ve got parts of you freaking out from the sudden changes? What if you’re an empath feeling overwhelmed with all the anxiety, depression, fear, grief and even panic in the air that isn’t even yours?

Healing music is one of the most powerful medicines for dealing with sudden changes, anxiety, fear, stress, anger, sadness, and developing new habits. It’s also great to help you stay present in your body, which we need to do in order to truly live and not just survive. Since we’re living in unprecedented times with constant sudden changes, I’ve got some musical jedi mind tricks for you, to help you rewire your brain for more resilience and to manage sudden changes more effectively.

In order to manifest what we want, the more senses engaged, the better, so here’s what happens with healing music designed for grief and trauma:

Musical Jedi Mind Tricks to Create New Habits:

Rhythm + Rhyme + Repetition = Remember.

Your mind will easily be able to recall rhymes. The water within you will hold the memory of whatever you feed the inner You. Your brain will love the patterns it’s learning, while your voice activates the conscious lyrics, and your reward centres light up with the joy you feel from expressing yourself and singing to high vibration music. Your subconscious will be distracted while you get to FEEL whatever you feel.

Singing Conscious Lyrics Rewires Your Brain so you can:

I could go on all day looking for R words. Do you see how your brain can get caught up in looking for patterns? Are any other R words coming to mind? Can you feel your brain needing to find one? That’s how we use our brains for the better! Your brain is seeking patterns all the time.

Unfortunately, like the messages we often tell ourselves unconsciously, those patterns are often what keep you in a sort of comfort (really it’s discomfort) zone. Rhythm, Rhyme and Repetition make it easier and more effective to override old patterns and habits and reprogram the brain and body with NEW, healthier patterns.

Now let’s pour some healing energy into the music… which is what ALL of my music carries.

All of those R’s get amplified just by listening to and singing along with high vibration music that aligns with how you want to feel, who you want to be and how you want to live.

For example, these lyrics from Living Past the Limits (it’s the last song in the concert) bring a sense of validation, hope and possibility:

Don’t give up on life
No matter how many tears you cry
Might feel like the darkness of night
But together we can find the Light

I have so many deep experiences with music, including the fact that whenever I’m singing, my chronic pain levels are reduced by at least 50-75%, not just while I’m singing but for at least a few hours afterwards too.

HOT TIP: Any time you’re moving healing energy through your body and especially through your voice, you’re going to bring up whatever wants to be released, and that release can surprise you if you’re not expecting it. I’ve had anything from tears “for no reason,” to physical pain increasing and then leaving, to a circumstance showing up to piss me off so I release some pent-up anger. I’ve had sudden spontaneous healing though, too. Trust your process and always get support as needed. Feel free to reach out for a healing and reading to help you understand what’s happening and clear out some of what’s coming up.

By the way, if you dance along too, you’re giving yourself even MORE good medicine. When we embody an experience, it stays with our body memory, which makes it easier to stick to new habits and hold other new patterns. Holding new patterns and habits is crucial during this global pandemic, because when there is real danger, which right now there is for all of us, the ego will do what it thinks is best to protect you from anything new.

You need to take appropriate measures to protect yourself, so that the ego-mind can stop working overtime. Then you can introduce things like healing music, as one way to ease that pressure, while also helping you to acclimate to new patterns and new uncomfortable circumstances.

Enjoy the music! I dare you to kick off your shoes and barefoot dance around your living room to this concert while you sing along! Let me know how it goes.

Love & Blessings,

Brenda MacIntyre, Medicine Song Woman
